One Business Day – Wallpaper, Always

Somewhere between calendar holds, meetings and very serious workdays in Aerospace, I’ve managed to build a fun little side hobby: mentally designing homes I don’t live in yet. It’s my reminder that you can be deeply committed to a demanding, technical world and still have soft, creative corners that belong to you.

Lately, that corner looks like wallpaper.

Wallpaper has this reputation for being risky or dramatic, but to me, it’s grounding. The right wallpaper doesn’t overwhelm – it settles a room. It adds depth without clutter, personality without noise. It’s not about being loud, it’s about being intentional.

I imagine a home where wallpaper quietly does the heavy lifting. A warm textured neutral in the living room that catches the light differently throughout the day and makes the space feel layered instead of flat. A delicate floral in a bedroom that feels timeless, not trendy. A soft stripe in a hallway that turns a transitional space into something worth pausing in. Nothing flashy, just thoughtful layers.

My design taste has always leaned coastal – not beachy, not themed. Clean, relaxed and filled with light. Natural textures, light palettes, rooms that feel like an exhale. I like spaces that feel collected over time, not styled all at once. Somewhere between polished and lived-in.

Recently, I started following a handful of interior designers. My feed has become a masterclass in texture, restraint and quiet confidence. I save what I love, study what works, and tuck it away for later. It’s research, well technically – just for a different kind of future…

I love that I can work in Aerospace – structured, precise, high-stakes and still have space for something creative and personal on the side. One world runs on data and deadlines; the other runs on feeling and imagination. Both matter and make me feel like myself.

Interior design will probably always stay a side hobby. It lives in screenshots, Pinterest boards, and mental notes I carry with me. One day, when I finally choose a wallpaper for my own home, it won’t be because it’s bold or trendy – it’ll be because it feels right.

Proof that you can build serious things by day and still dream beautifully on the side…
